`The Second Ambassadors’ Tennis Tournament kicks off today at the Anothai Sporting Club, bringing together government and private-sector representatives, diplomats, partners, and the wider tennis community for two days of friendly competition and international camaraderie.
This year’s tournament features 12 teams and around 100 players, representing ASEAN, the European Union, France, Japan, Korea, Lao PDR, Switzerland, Thailand, the United Kingdom, the United Nations, the United States, and Viet Nam. The event continues to strengthen ties between Lao PDR and its international partners through sport, friendship, and shared enthusiasm for tennis.

- Each team must consist of 6 to 8 players and appoint a team captain
- Categories : Men's 40+ and Women's 30+
- For countries that do not have enough Men's players, 2 Laotian players are allowed to complete
the team and for the women's no restriction
- Authorized to create a (EU) European and Asean team
- Game Format: Knockout matches
- The Teams will be drawn at random face each other in head-to-head matches
- The losers of the first and second rounds will be placed in the consolation bracket and the winners team advance to the round until only one winner remain
- Team captain must provide player names in a sealed envelope to the organizer at least 15 minutes prior to the first match of each round.
For each encounter, there will be the following matches
2 Men's double
2 Mixed doubles
1 Women's double
A match is played best of 1 set of 8 games. No deuce, deciding point at 40-40 and
Tie-break of 7 points at 7-7.
5 points to win per team. For each winning match the team will receive 1 point.
Teams who lost in the ⅛ final and ¼ final will play the consolation bracket.
For each encounter, there will be the following matches
1 Men's double
1 Mixed doubles
1 Women's double
A match is played best of 1 set of 6 games. No deuce, deciding point at 40-40 and tie-break of 7 points at 5-5.
3 points to win per team. For each winning match the team will receive 1 point.
Teams who lost will be definitely eliminated of the competition.
- All participants must be at ANOTHAI SPORTING CLUB at least 15 minutes prior to the match.
- No player can play more than 2 matches in one round.
- Each player must play at least 1 match in the tournament.
- Team composition can be different for each round.
- If a player is injured (or other reasons) during the match and unable to continue, the match will be considered a loss for that player, and they will be withdrawn from the competittion.
- The injured player will be replaced by a teammate selected by the team captain.
For safety reasons, injured players are not allowed to re-enter the tournament.

The Ambassadors’ Tournament has become a highlight in Vientiane’s sport and diplomatic calendar — fostering connection, teamwork, and goodwill among countries and institutions. Over the two days, players and supporters will share moments of friendly rivalry and build stronger ties within the international community in Lao PDR.

07:30-8:00 Arrival & Welcome Briefing
Registration and check-in for all players.
Light breakfast (coffee, croissants, fruit, and juice).
08:00 - 13:30: First Round (1/8)
3 courts in use simultaneously
Players compete with first to 8 games (cf. regulations).
Short breaks (5min) in between matches.
10:00 : All captains are required to medias interview and to welcome the Malaysian Ambassador, H.E. Edi Irwan bin Mahmud.
12:00 - 13:30 : Lunch buffet (paid option)
Buffet with a variety of hot and cold options (grilled meats, salads, pasta, vegetarian dishes).
13:30 - 19:30 : Quarter-Final Matches
3 courts in use simultaneously
All quarter-finals for Main and Consolation brackets.
Short breaks (5min) after each match.
Optionnal
Recovery sessions available for players (stretching and massage).
6:00 PM: End of Day 1
Conclusion of Day 1 matches and closure of the venue.

Semi-finals of the Main and Consolation Brackets : Winners from the Quarter-Finals compete for spots in the finals.
Short breaks of 5min in between matches.
12:00 - 13:30 : Lunch Break (paid option)
Buffet featuring sandwiches, salads, grilled vegetables, and fruits.
Relaxing time for players and spectators to enjoy food and socialize.
13:30 - 18:00 : Final Matches (3rd Place & Championship)
Court 1: 3rd Place Playoff – Losers of the semi-finals play for third place.
Court 2: Championship Final – The winners of the semi-finals face off for the championship title.
18:00 - 18:30 : Prize Ceremony
Official awards presentation with trophies and medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
Brief speeches from organizers, sponsors.
T-Shirts distribution and group photo of all participants.
18:30 - 22:00 : Closing Party (free access)
Cocktail reception with drinks, finger foods, karaoke and music.
